Greetings Ladies,
This week I wanted to create a Thank You for the ladies that are going to be at stamp camp for the first time. So, I decided to create these cute little post-it-note holders.
I got the idea from a blog called chic-n-scratch. She had a video tutorial and I decided to try it. Well, as it goes I didn’t have the coasters she used or the stamp sets. Which is fine. :) I can always improvise when I put my mind to it.
I decided to make mine from mat board that I’ve had lying around for quite some time. I purposely had Hobby Lobby cut a full sheet of matboard to 12×12 squares so I could cut them to any size I wanted later. You have to have a really sharp/good guilotine in order to cut these boards to size. I don’t think I would try this with a smaller cutter. I have a Tonic myself. So, it works out really well for me when cutting thick items like matboard. I cut my squares to the same size of the coasters in the video (3.5×3.5) I couldn’t round my corners, but I think they still turned out quite nice. I sanded the edges too.
I used the DSP Ginger Blossom. I covered my back cover with black cardstock on both sides to reduce the amount of DSP I wanted to use. The DSP and the black were cut to the same size as my matboards. The stamp set I used was from the Sale-a-bration catalog. I tied a piece of off-white ribbon (not SU) around the center of the front cover and used my scallop, 1 3/8″, and 1 1/4″ punches to finish off the look. I also pierced my scallops.
This is probably the second time I’ve used my Zutter. And, I am in love with these adorable post it note holders. Once I had the step-by-step instructions, these went pretty quick. I made 5 altogether in about 45 minutes from start to finish. I also like the fact that with the matboard they feel real sturdy. I don’t know how sturdy the coasters are. But, I do like the feel of the ones I made from matboard. Thank you Angie Kennedy Juda a.k.a. (http://chicnscratch.typepad.com) for such a wonderful idea!
Well ladies I am off to get another page together for my newest scallop box. Hope you liked seeing these today.
Cherie
