Boxed Set – 12 Mini 3×3 Cards and Envelopes

Here are the instructions as promised for my post on July 21 regarding the…

Set Of 12 3×3 Cards And Decorated Box

Simple Sweet Box Group Shot

All items to make the cards and the box are Stampin Up! Products unless otherwise stated.

Abbreviations for those of you who are new to my blog
CS – Card Stock
DSP – Designer Series Paper
SU – Stampin Up!

General Tools you will need for each card include:

  • Stampin Up! Paper cutter/score board. If you have Scor-Pal that’s fine too. You want to be able to make a nice score line in order to fold you card neatly.
  • Bone Folder: For crisp clean folds. This actually helps your card stand up better if you can smooth your fold real well.

Card 1: Tweet “Thanks” Card

3x3 Thank You Card

Tweet "Thanks" Card

Supplies

  • Card stock: Whisper White, Pixie Pink, Old Olive, Orchid Opulence
  • Classic Stamp Pads: Old Olive and Basic Black
  • Stamp Set: Live Your Dream
  • Punches: Scallop, 1 ¼” Circle
  • Adhesive: Snail or any other dry adhesive you have.

Directions:
My fold for this card is at the top when assembling.

  • Cut 3 pieces of Whisper White CS 3” x 6” and score at 3” then using your bone folder smooth your fold. This will be the base of your card.
  • Cut 3 pieces of Old Olive 3” long x ½” wide.
  1. Center and mount (1) piece of Old Olive to (1) of your Whisper White bases. **Make sure you leave enough room at the bottom for your stamped sentiment in the right hand corner.
  2. Stamp your bird from the Live Your Dream stamp set with Classic Basic Black ink onto your Orchid Opulence card stock. Using your Scallop punch, center your bird and punch it out .
  3. Take your Pixie Pink card stock and punch out (1) 1 ¼” circle. Line up your newly punched circle in your Scallop punch and punch your scallop. You should have a hole in the center of your Pixie Pink scallop. *Tip: If you do the scallop first you’ll have to fiddle with lining up the 1 ¼” circle punch on your scallop you punched out. It’s much easier to do this the other way around. Trust me I know. ;)
  4. Line up the edges of both your scallops (Opulence w/your stamped bird & Pixie Pink) and glue both scallops together using your snail or favorite dry adhesive.
  5. Center and mount your scallop on your Old Olive strip
  6. Using your Old Olive stamp pad – stamp your “Thanks” sentiment in the bottom right corner on an angle.

Card 2: “Cherish” Times Three

Cherish Times Three

Supplies
Card stock: Brilliant Blue, Green Galore, Whisper White
Stamp Pads: Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Brilliant Blue
Stamp Sets: Warm Words (Cherish) and Live Your Dream (Butterfly)
1/8” punch
Embellishments: Small yellow flower brads (not from SU)

Directions:

  • Cut 3 pieces of Brilliant Blue at 3” x 6” score at 3” and fold. (base) My fold for this card is at the top.
  • Cut 3 pieces of Green Galore at 1 1/8” x 3”
  • Cut 3 pieces of Whisper White at 1” x 2 7/8”
  1. Mount one of your Green Galore pieces to one of your Brilliant Blue bases on the left front side of your card front.
  2. On Whisper White, stamp 3 butterflies (1) with Pixie Pink, (1) with Green Galore, and (1) with Brilliant Blue. *TIP: I stamped Pixie Pink off on my grid paper about 4 times and was left with a nice little Pixie Pink edge on my Green Galore butterfly. I liked the looked so I did all of them that way. But, you could clean them with your Stampin Scrub each time you used a different color.
  3. Punch a 1/8” hole above and below the middle butterfly
  4. Attach flower brads (or other metal brad)
  5. Using Brilliant Blue stamp the sentiment “Cherish” next to each butterfly.

Create 2 more cards.

Card 3: “Just For You”

Just For You

Just For You

Supplies
Card stock: Green Galore, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White
Classic Stamp Pads: Brocade Blue, Green Galore or Versamark
Designer Series Paper: Flowers For You (retiring)
Stamp Set: Three For You “Just for You” sentiment and “Live Your Dream” (small flower)
Piercing tool – when I didn’t have a nifty piercing tool like I do now I used a sharp medium sized sewing needle.
Square Scallop Punch (I believe mine is a 2” square punch, but I am not certain.) You’ll want to punch one out to be sure the corners fit from side to side when positioning it as a diamond shape on your Brilliant Blue.

Directions:

My fold for this card is to the left when assembling.

  • Cut 3 pieces of Green Galore 3” x 6”, score at 3” and fold. (base)
  • Cut 3 pieces of Brilliant Blue 2 ½” x 3.
  • Cut 3 pieces of Flowers For You DSP 2” x 2”.
  1. Mount Brilliant Blue to the left side of your Green Galore Base
  2. Center and mount your DSP at the bottom of your Brilliant Blue
  3. Punch 3 square scallops out of Whisper White (set aside 2 for now)
  4. Ink up your small flower stamp with Brocade Blue and stamp in the center of one of your scallop squares.
  5. Take your piercing tool (or sewing needle) and pierce the center of all your scallops all the way around.
  6. Take your DSP, center and mount it near the bottom on your Brilliant Blue CS
  7. Center and mount your Scallop as a diamond over your DSP
  8. Ink up your “Just For You” sentiment with Green Galore, or Versamark – center and stamp on the right hand side on your Green Galore base.

Create 2 more cards the same way.

Card 4: “Beautiful Bloom”

Cheerful Bloom

Beautiful Bloom

Supplies
Card stock: Glorious Green, Whisper White,
Stamp Pads: Brilliant Blue, Versamark
Markers: SU Handsome Hunter (or other dark green marker)
Stamp Set: Beautiful Bloom (Bee and Tall bloom)
Punches: Small Corner Rounder
* Optional Tools: Pastels, Blender Pen

Directions

  • Cut 3 pieces of Glorious Green 3” x 6”. Score at 3” and fold. My fold is on the left
  • Cut 3 pieces of Whisper White 2” x 3”
  1. Using your Classic Brilliant Blue spot – ink just the “bloom”. You could use a Brilliant Blue marker if you have one. I don’t, therefore I had to improvise. :)
  2. Using your Handsome Hunter (or a dark green) marker ink up the “stem and leaves” on your rubber stamp.
  3. Huff (breathe like you would on a window as a child) and stamp your flower onto your Whisper White CS.
  4. Take your corner rounder punch and punch all the corners on your base and your Whisper White CS. It will be a little stiff when you punch the corners near your fold. At this point you could leave your bloom as is. If so, skip to step 6. Otherwise, you might want to try your hand at using the Stampin’ Pastels with a blender pen in step 5. I love using my pastels for small projects like this. It gives them a bit of a pop. :) You’ll need to be careful when using your pastels since you did not stamp your image with Stazon or Basic Black ink. But, with careful hands you can do this without running the colors together. :)
  5. *Optional – Using your pastels and blender pen, color the center of your bloom with Yoyo Yellow. I used Brocade Blue for the petals, and hunter green for the stem and Yoyo Yellow for parts of the leaves.
  6. Stamp the word “Bloom” next to your flower stamp on your Whisper White.
  7. Mount your stamped flower onto your base.
  8. Using the “bee” stamp from your Beautiful Bloom stamp set, stamp the bee using Glorious Green or Versamark 3 times down the right side of your card.

Create 2 more cards.

To create the box you will need 1/8″ or 1/4″ Sticky Tape. I used the 1/8″ type. You can find the instructions here. Once you’ve created the box you will need the following products below to complete the box as I have it here.

Box Embellishments: Olive ribbon (not SU), Mulberry Leaves (not SU), Pretties Flower from the Pretties Flower Kit, and one small green rhinestone brad from SU’s Ice collection.

If you make this set, please leave me a comment and let me know if the tutorial was helpful. Feel free to design your cards and box with different papers and stamps you already have on hand. If you have a website or blog, please leave me a comment with a link back to where I can look at your wonderful creation. I love to see how others are inspired. It only inspires me more.
